Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is working on the data requirements for Nebraska to begin to issue privileges through the Counseling Compact. Currently Arizona and Minnesota are fully onboard with many other states actively working through the process. Nebraska has established the fee for those seeking a privilege to practice in Nebraska through the Compact. The Compact has a small fee they assess and then each state sets a fee for the privilege to practice in that state. The entire amount of the fee is paid to the Compact at the time the application is submitted.
As we get closer, I'll keep you posted about the process or you can follow the entire process on www.counselingcompact.gov.
The Art Therapy credential is working its way through the process to be implemented in 2026. Once this process is completed, the credential will be active. This also means a new position is being added to the Board of Mental Health Practice.
In summer 2026, the Alcohol and Drug Counseling Board will unite with the Board of Mental Health Practice. Details are still being drafted about how this will occur. Three additional positions will be added to the Board of Mental Health Practice as a result which includes two profesional positions and one public member.
